In 2008 illustrator and artist Merijn Hos published the Stickit zine
My Friend On A Special Substance in a small edition of 50 copies. Recently Merijn came across the original drawings, which gave us the idea to do a proper reprint. This time in a edition of 100 copies.
On Saturday, January 28, all original drawings and sketches that Merijn made for this project can be seen for once. And in a short conversation, Merijn will tell more about the publication and his work in general. There is music by bass guitarist Joeri Pronk who will improivise, inspired by the work of Merijn Hos. The zine will be available and can be signed.

An invitation for young post-graffiti makers to create a work in this factory hall at the Glashard exhibition by
Stedelijk Museum Schiedam. Post-graffiti in De Glasfabriek Schiedam. '
We want to give young artists a chance,' says museum director Anne de Haij.' In this way they get a place on an international stage of artists with roots in the graffiti scene.’ We at Stickit help with the selection, and will bundle the result in a publication. You can apply via the form

In the photo below, the hall is still empty, but we have already selected three makers from our network. Graffiti pioneer MELLIE, abstract shapes by Olivier Schimmel and the eighties inspired work of SIGMA. We will post photos on our
Instagram in the coming days. For now just the empty factory hall, a space that many post-graffiti makers love.
The idea is that every Saturday a new maker gets to work in the factory hall. The walls will fill up until there is no space left. We are looking for young post-graffiti makers, mainly from the Netherlands.

Daniël Roozendaal is an Utrecht born & based illustrator and works as a freelancer on commissioned projects as wel as on autonomous, self-initiated projects. He successfully graduated in 2009 with a BFA in illustration at the Utrecht school of arts, HKU.
A personal study on glassware and bitmapping that resulted in a series of abstract glasses, cups and mugs. The zine is part of the NEW PRINT exhibition at Kapitaal Utrecht. A series of RISO and screen prints are available.

Unlock Bookfair - Cologne
August 31 - September 1
In 2019 the fair travels to Cologne after three instalments in Barcelona, Berlin and Amsterdam, and several offshoot events in cities across Europe. This year Unlock teams up with CityLeaks Urban Art Festival Cologne.
The fair and accompanying events will take place outdoors in the Ehrendfeld area, in the arches under the elevated railway. A most fitting setting!
The street will be blocked to car traffic for the whole weekend. Many other activities of CityLeaks Festival will take place during the weekend, including talks and DJ sets, at least until 1AM – the book fair will be surrounded by a block party!

Unlock: Visual Dissidence

Unlock: Visual Dissidence brings to Herne (Germany) a selection of publishers and artists whose work explores the creative area where graffiti, street art and contemporary art overlap.
The event starts with a two-day book fair featuring a selected line-up of independent European publishers working with progressive forms of uncommissioned public art.
Each exhibiting publisher invites one artist from their roster to take part in an exhibition that will remain on display for three weeks after the fair. The exhibition will explore artistic approaches that push the conventions of uncomissioned public art and take it into unusual territories.
In addition to the publishers’ stalls, the book fair weekend features book launches and a series of talks enquiring into issues crucial to the evolution of graffiti and street art. How should the exhibiting of street artworks be approached? In which directions can these practices be expected to evolve in the near future?
The fair, exhibition and accompanying events will take place at Alter Wartesaal – the former waiting room of Deutsche Bahn’s station in Herne.

We combine the images randomly and printed them on top of each other. We printed one Mashville artist over one Stickit artist. The result is a very unexpected picture for all participants. an exhibition by Pablo Tomek
Pablo Tomek is a French graffiti artist who belongs to the infamous PAL crew (Peace And Love) from Paris. With his free tags and pieces he has achieved worldwide fame in both the graffiti scene and art scene. Tomek has already exhibited his work with Jeroen Erosie and Graphic Surgery at Galerie Celal (FR) and in the group exhibition of Agnes B in Galerie Du Jour. Tomek recently had his first solo show in Paris and we now have the honour to show his work in the Netherlands.
Letters and images that refer to the conventional graffiti in transition to raw abstraction. From the figurative to the abstract, from the letter towards it's abstract form. The quirky results lose every recognizable letter shape and have no reference point. Free expression with an intriguing graffiti thought.
